BOOK REVIEW DISCUSSION "PERAN KEARIFAN LOKAL DAN MODAL SOSIAL DALAM PENGURANGAN RISIKO BENCANA DAN PEMBANGUNAN PESISIR"

Wednesday (06/2/2019), Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah (DPAD) DIY Province, conducted book review discussion with the book which published by UGM Press titlted "Peran Kearifan Lokal dan Modal Sosial dalam Pengurangan Risiko Bencana dan Pembangunan Pesisir" in  Dusun Karang, Tirtohargo, Kretek, Bantul. The participants of this event got the "Peran Kearifan Lokal dan Modal Sosial dalam Pengurangan Risiko Bencana dan Pembangunan Pesisir" which distributed by DPAD DIY in order to increase the interest in reading book of the local people.

This book review discussion was attended by some speakers such as one of the writers of the book "Peran Kearifan Lokal dan Modal Sosial dalam Pengurangan Risiko Bencana dan Pembangunan Pesisir" Dr. Arry Retnowati, S.Si., M.Si. Arry Retnowati said that Tirtihargo is one of the villages in Kretek sub-district, Bantul regency is at risk of catastrophic flooding of agricultural land and coastal flooding because it is close to the south coast. Tirtohargo is a village that is known for its extensive rice fields and has a conservation forest and mangrove forest so that the community can try to identify the social capital that exists in relation to environmental management and disaster risk reduction efforts.

According to Dr. Arry Retnowati, S.Si., M.Si., this book is not only expalin about the prevention but also to identify the local wisdom and social capital in traditional community entities, especially in terms of community responses to environmental management and disaster risk reduction efforts as a form of community role in sustainable development.

Besides Dr. Arry Retnowati, S.Si., M.Si., there are the other speakers in this event, Djuli Sugiarto, S.Sos., M.P. as the head of Bidang Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Perpustakaan DPAD DIY; Tustiyani, S.H., as a member of Commission D Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah (DPRD) DIY; and Dwi Daryanto, as a Chiev Executive BPBD Bantul.

Djuli Sugiarto hoped that this book review event would be used as a place to learn, socialize, exchange ideas, and be able to arouse the enthusiasm of the village community in developing reading culture.

"This book review can give benefits as a promotion media of reading culture in the community. It also helps people gain knowledge about the role of local wisdom and social capital in relation to development finance and Coastal development," said Djuli.

UGM Press manager Dr. I Wayan Mustika appriciates this book review activity, according to him, this activity will help increase the interest of local people in reading book, "We hope that the books which published by UGM Press will give benefits for local people and I hope by attending this event local people will get new information and knowledge."
