ONLINE BOOK DISCUSSION “HARVESTING RAINWATER: BENEFITS OF RAINWATER RELATED TO COVID-19”

UGM Press under the responsibilities of the UGM Publisher and Publication Organization now holding an "Online Book Discussion" event. This activity became UGM Press's marketing strategy to reach readers and build optimism in the middle of Covid-19.

On Wednesday, April 29th, 2020, UGM Press held an online book review "Harvesting Rainwater: Benefits of Rainwater Related to Covid-19" by Agus Maryono with the main speaker Ir. Agus Prasetya, M.Eng., Sc., Ph.D. from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering UGM through a video conference application using the platform https://ugm-spark.webex.com/join/agusmaryono at 10.30-13.00 WIB. The event was attended by hundreds of online participants from students and the public community.

Agus Maryono as the author of the book said that the background of writing this book includes ongoing flooding, drought continues to increase, decreasing of groundwater level continues to increase, the quality of groundwater and environmental also decreases, diseases due to dirty water increases, forest fires continue to take place, and rainwater was forgotten.

"The public does not have awareness and knowledge yet about the importance of rainwater so this online book discussion can provide knowledge that can be applied by harvesting, storing, and utilizing rainwater as well as possible. This method is known as the rainwater harvesting movement," he said.

"I recommend this book because it discusses the background of rainwater harvesting, its use in developed countries and traditional uses, rainwater harvesting methods and infrastructure, infrastructure dimensions and equipment, rainwater quality and rainwater quality improvement methods, and closed with a recommendation, "Agus Prasetya said as the speaker in this online book review.
