Achmad Munjid

 

Achmad Munjid teaches at the Department of Inter- Cultural Studies, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Gadjah Mada University. He got his Master (2008) and Ph.D. (2014) from the Department of Religion, Temple University, US, under the sponsorship of Fulbright scholarship program (2004-2006), Henry-Luce Foundation (2007), Temple University TAship and IYLP from Leiden University (2012). His research area includes Muslim-Christian relations, freedom of religion, religious pluralism and tolerance, religious fundamentalism, secularization, religion and violence, trauma and memory, death and dying, and world literature. His forthcoming book (co- authored with Lindy Backues of Eastern University, PA), Deep Listening, Deep Respect: Authentic Friendship as the Basis for Interfaith Understanding, will be published by Fortress Press, USA. He is a senior researcher at the Center for Religious and Cross-Cultural Studies (CRCS) UGM, Center for Security and Peace Studies (CSPS) UGM, and General Secretary of the Center for Pancasila Studies UGM.
