JUSUF KALLA VISITED UGM PRESS BOOTH AT IIBF 2019
UGM Press was present again this year at the 2019 Indonesia International Book Exhibition (IIBF). The exhibition was held at Hall A, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan, Jakarta. There were appoximately 20 countries that contributed in this international book exhibition, and this is the 5th times UGM Press has participated in this event. IIBF 2019 lasts for 5 days, starting from 04 to 08 September 2019.
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, in his remarks at the opening of the 2019 IIBF expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian Publisher Association (IKAPI) for consistently hold this book exhibition until it reaches the 39th time this year. For an activity, IIBF is classified as quite long-lived. Anies also appreciated that IKAPI had optimally maintained the sustainability of the activity. He hoped that IKAPI's consistency could lead to an increase in the literacy ability of the Indonesian people.
The excitement increased when Jusuf Kalla visited the exhibition on the last day. He also visited the UGM Press booth. UGM Press Marketing Coordinator, Febriarto Wahyu Aji, offered books published by UGM Press, including a book entitled Reformasi Tata Kepemerintahan (Governance Reformation) by Prof. Dr. Sofian Effendi and the book Administrasi Publik Desentralisasi Kelembagaan dan Aparatur Sipil Negara (Public Administration of Decentralized Institution and State Civil Apparatus) by the late Prof. Dr. Agus Dwiyanto, S.U., MPA.
Jusuf Kalla stated that book exhibitions are always interesting because there are new things that are obtained, both thinking, politics, history, science, religion, and others. "That is why I am happy with this exhibition and I see that UGM Press is the one with the most visitors from among the students," said Jusuf Kalla.
"A nation wiil be a developed nation if its people are smart, intelligence can be obtained from reading books, if we don't start loving reading how can we get the new knowledge, if we don't have knowledge how can we develop our nation" Jusuf Kalla continued after buying some books from UGM Press.
The Head of UGM Publisher and Publication Agency, Widodo, SP, M.Sc., Ph.D., greatly appreciated UGM Press for being able to participate again at IIBF as a joint effort to develop the publishing and book industry, and to advance Indonesia's literacy going forward.
"The presence of UGM Press at IIBF 2019 can produce good output to achieve the book marketing performance target through its participation in events held by IKAPI," Widodo said.
"I hope that the participation of UGM Press in IIBF will become a platform by anticipating various changes in the world, where there has been a convergence in the creative industry to create more added value for our economy," he concluded. (Irwan / UGM Press)
