REVIEW BOOK DISCUSSION "MEMBANGUN PARIWISATA DARI BAWAH" IN MUNTUK VILLAGE, DLINGO, BANTUL

REVIEW BOOK DISCUSSION

Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah (DPAD) DIY Province invited local peopple of Muntuk Village, sub-distric Dingo, Bantul regency, to read book "Membangun Pariwisata dari Bawah" which published by UGM Press in order to develop the tourism potential of bamboo crafts as an identity and icon of Muntuk Village.

In a book review "Membangun Pariwisata dari Bawah" which was held at the Muntuk Village Hall, Dlingo, Bantul, on Thursday (21/3), Destha Titi Raharjana, one of the authors, said that the hospitality of villagers towards visitors was very important in creating visitor comfort while staying in the village at least 3 days 2 nights to learn bamboo crafts.

"For example, if you visit someone's house, if the host is not friendly, you better go home," said Destha.

"Therefore, the assistance for tourism villages to be more competitive is very important, and it has to be more focus on aspects of destination management which include: product development, HR-institutional, development of IT-based marketing, business plans, and supported by improving aspects of amenities in tourist villages," said Destha.

The Head of Muntuk Village, Kelik Subagyo, hopes that with this book review discussion, villagers can create new innovations, especially related to bamboo crafts that have become an icon of Muntuk Village.

"With this book review activity, we hope that the community will be inspired to create innovations in developing tourism in their place. We will share this book with villagers with 150 copies," said the Head of Seksi Pengembangan Minat dan Budaya Baca of DPAD DIY, Aris Widiyanto.

"This book should be read by villagers because it tells the experience of developing tourism from butom which is documented in written form," said the Head of the Bantul Tourism Office, Kwintarto.

UGM Press manager, very appreciated this book review activity. Based on him opinion this activity can increase people's desire to read books as an effort to develop tourism. "The book "Membangun Pariwisata dari Bawah" comes as an effort to document fieldwork with the community carried out by UGM Tourism Study Center researchers," said Wayan.

 
 
Head of Badan Penerbit dan Publikasi (BPP) UGM, Dr. Widodo said that the books published by UGM Press were not only theaching material for students and lecturers, but also the other kind of books which support education and community service (Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi).
